....just to get this forum going ~ none on here so far ~ I am sharing a little but long poem with you!

A Woman of Splendid Imperfection

Think of a woman who is love with her own essence,
embracing the joy with the pain.
Mixing tears with loud laughter, she opens her soul,
to greet the divergent aspects of her self.

Think of a woman who savours lifes' rich experience,
discarding the shackles of her inner demons,,
she dares to say no and fearlessly shouts yes.

Think of a woman who acknowledges the parts that
make her whole. The sad & mad raw edges,
which threaten to unhinge her, she leaves them alone,
sitting quietly, listening until they have spoken.
Knowing where she will take them and where they will take her.

Think of a woman who has sifted through her past;
the hurts & betrayals, the tears, hurt and pain.
Now blazing her way forward, alive, with hope for her
future, in joy, in wisdom, she dances with life.

Think of a woman who creates her own canvas,
with dollops of delight, the brush of daily gratitude,
the smile of her knowing, creating the soft warm places
where nurture comes to self, and love surrounds her like a warm blanket.

Think of a woman who basks in the splendour
of her own imperfection, who tenderly caressess
the worn tired out energies and slathers love
on the dried out parched & obsolete parts,
long gone lost in the vainity of youth.

Think of a woman who refills her cup with life's rich
abundance, when the well is empty, confidence evaporated
into the rasping mists of time. Refilling, slowly,
consistently, gently building her own momentumn.

Think of a woman who celebrates the reluctant parts of
her goddess, the scared child, the defensive girl,
the awkward maturing woman,
she tenderly gathers them up into the
breast of her wisdom.

Think of a woman who is tender and open, who laughs as
an innocent, drinking life in large gulps ~ as the earth soaks up spring rain.
A woman who sits through her seasons sipping dark chocolate in
a misty sqare, hearing the music which no other ears can hear.

Think of a woman who is friends with the night,
who calls to her angels and makes love with the stars.
A woman who voice resonates with sky and touches earths' soul.
A woman who accepts her limitations and is accepting of help.

Think of a woman who starts off as a child, maturing,
ripening gently into succulent wisdom and remaining,
still ever, a beautiful child of her god.
A woman who shares her light, leading the way, being guided by
others, her door always open, willing to serve and to be served.

Think of a woman who sits in the circle of sisterhood, who
walks the hard paths, who climbs the rocky road of isolation to
find the true gifts of her being. A woman who embraces it all
with love and compassion, knowing the sweetest lessons
are to be found in the shadows of self.

Think of a woman who knows she is loved, who knows all she
has and all she will have is more than enough. A woman who
holds the unniverse in her soul and her soul in the unniverse.
Yet knowning she is but a tiny speck of light in the
vastness of the yet unknown.

Think of a woman who leaves a difference in her wake,
understanding the duality of life and quietly making a
space for her creations. Finding the sweet spot between
her vision and her reality to fully embrace her present.

Think of a woman who is a woman among women, a sister of
the world, a parent to her child and a lover of her self.

Think of a woman who is fully accepting,
free from the harness of judgement ~ a woman who
embodies the richness of her mind and the depth of her soul.

Now think of that woman as you.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem.  It felt as though it was written just form me (I'm sure others will feel that).  Currently, I am enrolled in an English Education class where we are writing something to share every week, and the best part of each assingment asks us to search our memories for moments (happy, sad, or discouraging) in our personal lives that affected our feelings toward education.  I have been so free with the writings I have shared about things from my past, that I am finally feeling as though I am becoming whole again.

Thanks so much for sharing the poem, it really made a big impression for me!

Write and explore with faith!

What a beautiful way to see ourselves.  Thank you for sharing this.  It is a prayer unto itself.  Wink

It is the first time I had been to the community...just now.  I entered and started scrolling down through the various topics.  I saw your message and for now ~apparent~ reason, was drawn to it solely.  As I read it, my eyes welled up, my throat grew tight, and i sat with the feelings of joy from connection and the truth of every word that rang through my spirit.  Thank you for sharing.  Simply beautiful. I intend to memorize it to heart and replay the song of your wisdom often.  Thank you. Indogodawning
